In an event held at the iconic Tate Modern in London, this distinguished accolade was collected by the Chairman of Sri Lanka Tourism, Buddhika Hewawasam. This remarkable achievement marks a thrilling turnaround, as Sri Lanka climbed from eighth place last year to secure the Gold award, reflecting the island’s captivating appeal and diverse offerings as voted by over 200,000 avid travelers.

Known for its rich cultural heritage, stunning landscapes, national parks teeming with wildlife, and unspoiled beaches, Sri Lanka continues to capture the hearts of global explorers. The island’s tea plantations and the scenic highlands of the central region have recently become particularly popular, especially with the introduction of the Pekoe Trail, a 300-kilometer hiking route through lush tea country that immerses visitors in Sri Lanka’s “green heart.”
